The Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) is an aperture synthesis radiotelescope in north-west New South Wales. The array has been operated as part of the CSIRO's Australia Telescope National Facility (which also includes the Parkes 64m radiotelescope) since 1990.
Details of the observations made with the ATCA can be found at www.atnf.csiro.au/observers/data.html. All ATCA observations have been archived on CD-ROM and comprise approximately 1.5 Terabytes.
In late 2002 a project was initiated to make the entire dataset accessible on-line. The project aims to provide VO-compliant interfaces to the raw ATCA data, and ultimately to calibrated data and radio images of the observed fields.
Project work will include:
- Transfer of archived data to network-accessible disk storage
- Provision of facilities to view and search the contents of the dataset
- Development of pipeline processing elements to edit, calibrate and image the raw data
- Development of the VO-compliant interfaces.
Update: December 2004
The Australia Telescope Compact Array On-line Archive is complete and released to the public.
